Hacton Cruck: A recently completed restoration of a medieval cruck framed building dating from the late C14th/early C15th. Slowly and lovingly worked on over a number of years, the open hall with screens passage and gallery over has been brought back to life. Particular attention has been paid to detail and all work done to a high standard using traditional methods and materials. Considerately furnished, it offers the rare opportunity to experience the atmosphere and romance of a medieval building in relative comfort. A ground source heat pump gently warms the floor slab, while the wood burner (in the living area) is the focus for cosy winter evenings round the fire. Perfect for that second honeymoon, the tranquil retreat, the exploration base, the long weekend with friends or family. Located privately on the edge of a West Herefordshire village, midway between Hereford and Hay, Hacton is a destination in it's own right, though there is plenty of interest in the surrounding area. Country houses, gardens and castles; The Wye and Golden Valleys; picturesque black and white villages; beautiful walking country in the Black mountains, The Forest of Dean; historic country towns, the book town of Hay-on-Wye and of course the county town of Hereford. Now available for booking as self catering holiday cottage accommodation, either on a weekly basis or, for shorter weekend or mid-week breaks. |
